There’s a new wedding venue in town and it rocks! Alevi Farm Lodge and Salon is situated just outside White River on the Brondal Road. It’s an old tabaco barn turned into a guest lodge surrounded with beautiful views of the Lowveld. I’ve always been very fortunate to shoot at awesome venues I haven’t been before and this was no exception.
A tough assignment
From the moment I met them it was clear to me that Candice and Dan is a couple that knows exactly what they want. They demand nothing less than perfection. No pressure then. It was however good to have clear instructions and expectations of the big day. We met at the venue a week before the wedding to run through the program. We also scouted the venue for possible photo locations.
With a stunning view towards the west they had hoped for a perfect sunset on the day but the weather gods had other plans. There’s always a tradeoff and in this instance it was a case of beautiful even light under the heavy overcast skies. No harsh shadows but the little light throughout the afternoon was challenging at the best of times. I was very thankful for my Nikon D750’s brilliant low light capability. Mercifully the rain stayed away right about until the reception started indoors.
Everything about the wedding was spectacular. The decor, bridal party’s dresses and suits, Candice’s dress, the food’s presentation, the passionate ceremony, the mischievous banter during the formals and the sincere thankfulness during the reception’s speeches.
I want to extend a big thank you to Candice and Dan for trusting me as the photographer for their big day. It was a fantastic opportunity to get some new shots for the old wedding portfolio. Also a big up the Alevi’s staff for presenting such a beautiful wedding venue. The catering was exceptional and I can only guess how long it must have taken to prepare the myriad of dishes.
