A fortnight ago I was privileged to do a wedding shoot for a dear friend of mine. It was an intimate reception at the unique Brasserie de Paris situated in Waterkloof Ridge. Architecturally the venue is a relic of the 70’s; stark and cold but the cuisine is divine. The couple’s photos were taken at the picturesque Pretoria Country Club.
Edrich and Shinhye’s story is so unique. They met each other at the University of Pretoria. He had returned from America after playing golf there for a decade and she moved to South Africa to further her studies after first going to Gabon. Their love grew out of friendship and I must admit that they are probably the most relaxed couple I’ve ever met. Completely at ease and in love with each other.
This day proved show that you don’t have to follow convention or spend thousands of Rands to have a memorable wedding celebration. What made the event even more interesting from a photographer’s perspective was that that the couple’s wedding attire was traditional South Korean. It made for striking pictures! I also had the chance to try out some new gear and work for the first time with off-camera flash.
I want to thank them for the honour of choosing me as their photographer for the day and the opportunity to share in their special moments and happiness. May you have a long and wonderful life together!
EJ.
