Lola and Edwin were the lucky guinea pigs for my and their first ever engagement shoot. The venue was agreed upon and so we made the trip from Nelspruit to Kaapsehoop on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that they are, like myself, both also musicians. With that in common the ice was broken and we started shooting.
The couple looked splendid in their white outfits and it was evident that they are very much in love. We tried different locations, starting off in the plantation and then moving on to the escarpment, a mean feat and hike for Lola in her high heels! I must say thank you to them both for their patience with me and willingness to try out some of my ideas.
I also want to thank Nedine Schoeman for the opportunity. She has been a real helping hand and mentor since I’ve met her a month ago. What I’ve learnt most through this shoot is that you just have to break out of your comfort zone and try new things.
