Fairytale wedding
It’s been a while since my last wedding BLOG but it has certainly not been due to a lack of work…to the contrary! I finally had a bit of time today to see when I last posted something. With a shock I realised that it has nearly been six months. Well, I’ll try to put it right by posting a few pics from one of my favourite weddings I shot in 2016. Fezile and Bonga’s big day at the award winning venue, Umbali near Nelspruit on 12 December 2016.
I only met the couple in person on their wedding day. They reside in the Western Cape but with most of their family living in the Lowveld they and a few of their friends and family made the long trek up north.
Fezile got dressed at the elegant Leaves Lodge and Spa. It was fun to share in Fezile and the bridesmaids’ festive and upbeat mood. We moved to the wedding venue where a nervous looking Bonga also arrived. A few last minute arrangements were finalised and then the ceremony started. Bonga had tears in his eyes as Fezile entered the chapel. The chemistry between the couple was palpable and their true love for each other was there for all to see.
Big wedding gesture
Bonga again was overcome with emotion as he made an emotional speech during the ceremony. A sip of whiskey not only calmed him down a bit but also apparently gave him the confidence to serenade his newly-wed wife with the backing of the live band. This brought on fits of laughter from Fezile and the guests. Bonga however didn’t miss a beat and courageously kept on singing until the end.
A close friend of the couple then had a bit of fun with them. He tested them on how much they knew of each other. It’s always funny to see how many things couples don’t yet seem to know of each other when they get married. I’ll let the photographs fill in the rest of the gaps. Thank you to Fezile and Bonga for trusting me to capture their beautiful day. It was great to be part of it.
